An Engagement At The Top Of The World!

My fiancee and I were in Connecticut visiting his parents for the Christmas holiday. We decided to take a day to go into New York City and walk around to look at Rockefeller Center and all the holiday decorations. After a warm lunch at a great little bistro we discovered by accident, he surprised me with tickets to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.

After the show we decided to go to the top of the Empire State Building since neither of us had ever been. It took two hours for us to get to the top and when we got there it was packed! We started walking around the fence perimeter to see the city from all the sides when suddenly he stopped, grabbed my arm and got down on his knee. As soon as I realized what he was doing I got misty eyed and started to shake! He said, "We've been to the top of the world and the bottom of the ocean, and if you're not doing anything for the next 60 or so years would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

Then he held out the most beautiful ring to me. I was so scared that I would knock it over the edge of the viewing fence I didn't want to put it on so I had to make him do it. Then we hightailed it out of there and jumped on a train to get back to Connecticut. It turned out that it was his parent's 25th wedding anniversary and we were having a double celebratory dinner with them!

It was truly, one of the most wonderful days of my life.
